Yale’s Freezer and Cold Room Monitoring Service

Yale’s Freezer Monitoring Service is a university wide service supported by the Health Sciences Information Services group.  Its mission is to provide a freezer and cold room monitoring solution to the 4,000 plus freezer and cold rooms across the university.

This service will:

  • Monitor Freezer and Cold Room Temperatures
  • Monitor Door Open, Closed, and Ajar conditions
  • Monitor Power in the room (if the sensor is plugged into the wall)
  • Monitor the battery level of the sensor
  • Sends alerts to people via e-mail and text
  • Sends automatic report(s) on freezer/cold room sensor logs

This service is primarily intended to monitor the following devices at Yale:

  • -80C, -30C, and -20C Freezers
  • Liquid Nitrogen/Dewar Freezers
  • Cold Rooms

This service is currently in the piloting phase with an expected University-wide rollout this spring.
