With a wealth of experience, a diverse background in information technology, and more than 18 years with Yale, Philip is a valuable addition to our management team.
A Professional Journey to Yale
Philip’s path to Yale is marked by a lifelong interest in technology, which began with a childhood fascination for recording musical performances. This curiosity led him to develop expertise in designing, documenting, configuring, and maintaining IT systems. His professional journey encompassed roles at a semiconductor manufacturer’s headquarters on Long Island, managing a semiconductor engineering facility in the San Francisco Bay Area, and overseeing IT operations for a nationwide company with a presence in 16 U.S. cities. In 2005, Philip’s career brought him to New Haven, Connecticut, where he joined the Yale School of Medicine.
Roles and Responsibilities
As IT Manager for Technology Support Services at YSM, Philip’s primary responsibilities include overseeing IT operations for Neuroscience research projects and the MacBrain Resource Center. These critical initiatives drive advancements in neuroscience research and contribute to groundbreaking discoveries in the field.
In addition, Philip leads a team of skilled IT professionals who provide essential services across YSM. His leadership ensures the reliability and efficiency of technology resources for faculty, researchers, and staff, facilitating their pursuit of scientific knowledge and medical progress.
Memorable Moments and Personal Interests
One of Philip’s most cherished memories is associated with his experiences at the intersection of Cedar and College streets at Congress Avenue in New Haven, Connecticut, marking a significant chapter in his personal and professional journey.
Beyond his IT responsibilities, Philip has a wide array of interests and hobbies. He enjoys exploring the outdoors through activities such as hiking and camping, open-fire cooking, and road trips. He also has a passion for music which he’s cultivated since childhood. Combining these interests, Philip actively seeks opportunities for cultural exploration and engagement, believing in the power of sharing food and music as a means of connecting with people and understanding their cultural backgrounds.
